For many families, sending their children to camp is a big step. It is a moment filled with excitement, but also with important questions. One of the most common concerns is: Will my child feel safe, respected, and included?
At My Spanish Camps, the answer is clear. Creating a safe, positive, and respectful environment is not just part of what we do, but it is at the heart of everything we stand for.
Prevention first: building a culture of respect
Our approach to bullying begins long before any issue can arise.
We actively work on prevention by creating an environment where respect, empathy, and inclusion are part of daily life. Through group dynamics, team-building activities, and everyday interactions, campers are encouraged to understand and appreciate differences.
Living in a multicultural environment naturally fosters curiosity and respect. Campers learn that everyone brings something valuable to the group, and that kindness and cooperation are what make the experience meaningful.
When children feel included and valued, negative behaviors are far less likely to appear.
Observation: being present at every moment
One of the key elements of our program is our high counselor-to-camper ratio.
This allows our team to be constantly present, attentive, and engaged with the group. Our counselors are not just supervising, they are actively observing interactions, group dynamics, and individual behaviors.
This level of attention helps us detect even the smallest signs of discomfort, exclusion, or conflict early on. In many cases, this proactive observation allows us to intervene before a situation can escalate.
Supporting the child: care, listening and guidance
If a camper ever feels uncomfortable or affected by another’s behavior, our first priority is to support that child.
A member of our team will speak with them individually, in a calm and safe environment, to understand what has happened and how they feel. Emotional support is essential since we want every child to feel heard, protected, and reassured.
From there, we guide the situation carefully, always prioritizing the well-being and confidence of the child. Our goal is not only to resolve the issue, but to help them feel safe and empowered again.

Addressing the behavior: firm and respectful intervention
At the same time, we take clear and immediate action with the child or group involved in the behavior.
Our team will speak with them to understand their perspective, but we maintain a firm and consistent message: there is zero tolerance for any form of bullying, exclusion, or disrespect.
These conversations are handled with professionalism and care, helping children understand the impact of their actions while setting clear boundaries about acceptable behavior.
Taking action: clear decisions and accountability
After assessing the situation, our team determines the appropriate course of action.
Each case is treated individually, but always with the same priority: protecting the well-being of all campers. Measures can range from guided behavioral correction to, in more serious or repeated cases, expulsion from the camp.
We are fully committed to ensuring that our environment remains safe and respectful for everyone. When necessary, we take decisive action.
Communication with families: transparency and trust
Throughout the entire process, communication with families is constant and transparent.
Parents of all children involved, both those affected and those responsible for the behavior, are informed and updated. We believe that working together with families is essential to properly address and resolve any situation.
Our goal is for parents to feel confident, informed, and supported at all times, knowing their children are in a safe and caring environment.
At My Spanish Camps, we believe that camp is more than just activities and adventures. It is a place where children learn how to live together, respect one another, and grow as individuals.
By combining strong preventive values with clear and firm action when needed, we create a community where every child can feel safe, included, and free to be themselves. If you want to explore more about our community, you can check testimonials here.
