Why the best-trained counselors in Spain are part of our team

When families choose a summer camp, one of the most important concerns is the care of their children and who will be behind it.

At My Spanish Camps, we believe that the quality of a camp experience depends directly on the people who guide it. That’s why we have built something truly unique — a team of counselors trained through our own system, designed specifically to meet the needs of international campers.

A training system designed by us, for our campers

Unlike most camps, we don’t rely on external training. We collaborate with our own counselor training program, which allows us to prepare our team exactly the way we believe it should be done. Our counselors go through a complete training process that includes both theory and practice.

First, they receive a theoretical training phase, where they learn about child development, group dynamics, safety protocols, emotional support, and how to work in an international environment. Then, they complete a practical phase within our own camps, where they apply everything they have learned in real situations, always guided and evaluated by experienced professionals. After completing both stages and passing the required assessments, only the most prepared candidates are selected to join our team for future programs.

More than just qualifications

Not every trainee becomes a My Spanish Camps counselor. We carefully select those who have demonstrated outstanding skills during their practical experience, those counselors who naturally adapt to children, understand their needs, and know how to create meaningful connections.

What truly makes them stand out is their ability to provide personalized attention to every camper. Each child is different, and our team is trained to recognize that and respond accordingly.

What makes our counselors exceptional

There are several reasons why our team stands out as one of the most professional in Spain.

First, their adaptability. They know how to adjust to different personalities, cultures, and levels of independence, making every child feel comfortable and included. Second, their communication skills. They are trained to maintain clear and reassuring communication not only with campers, but also with families when needed. They also excel in conflict resolution, managing situations calmly and constructively, always prioritizing the well-being of the group. Another key strength is their ability to lead and energize activities, creating engaging experiences that keep campers motivated, involved, and happy throughout the day. Finally, many of our counselors are multilingual, which allows them to support children who may need help in another language, especially during their first days at camp. This makes the transition smoother and helps campers gain confidence more quickly.

Beyond their technical skills, our counselors become something much more meaningful to our campers. They are guides, mentors, and often seen as “older brothers and sisters.” They support children through challenges and encourage them to step out of their comfort zone. They play a key role in helping campers improve their Spanish, build friendships, and grow in confidence and independence.

What families tell us

Every year, we collect feedback from families through detailed quality surveys, and one thing remains constant: the appreciation for our team.

Parents consistently highlight the care, attention, and professionalism of our counselors. They see how their children come back home more confident, more independent, and full of stories about the people who made their experience so special.

At My Spanish Camps, we are convinced that the true value of a camp lies in its people. That’s why we invest so much in building, training, and selecting a team that not only meets the highest standards, but also cares personally about every child.
