Are Cell Phones Allowed in Summer Camps in Spain?

Table of Contents

When families start looking for summer camps in Spain, wondering about the use of cell phones is very frequent. The answer depends largely on the philosophy of each camp, as there are many different ways to understand the summer camp experience.

At My Spanish Camps, we strongly believe that our summer camp should be a time for real connection, personal growth, and full immersion in the experience. For this reason, we promote a screen-free environment during the day.

Why a Screen-Free Camp Experience?

Removing daily access to cell phones brings many benefits for children and teenagers:

Meaningful interpersonal connections:
Without screens, campers interact face to face, build friendships naturally, and develop social skills through shared experiences.

True disconnection:
The camp becomes a pause from constant notifications, social media pressure, and digital overstimulation — allowing children to relax, be present, and enjoy the moment.

Real interaction and adventure:

Campers fully engage in activities, games, challenges, and group dynamics without distractions, making each experience more intense and memorable.

Connection with nature:
Our camp is located in a privileged natural environment. A screen-free approach allows children to truly connect with nature, explore their surroundings, and enjoy outdoor adventures.

How Do We Handle Communication With Families?

While we encourage disconnection, communication and reassurance are essential.

  • Campers may bring their phones, but these are kept safely by a supervisor during the program.
  • At specific times during the week, children can contact their families using the phone of a designated supervisor.
  • Families can contact the camp team at any time if needed.
  • Communication between families and camp supervisors is constant before, during, and after camp, ensuring transparency and trust.

This balance allows children to enjoy a screen-free experience while families remain informed and supported.

At My Spanish Camps, our goal is to create a safe, enriching environment where children can grow, connect, and live summer closely, meaning offline, but never disconnected from care.
