Are Activities at Camp Mixed? How We Organize Groups, Rest, and Hygiene at My Spanish Camps

Table of Contents

One of the most frequent questions we receive from families is whether boys and girls are separated at camp. It’s an important question, and we’re happy to explain clearly how our camp is organized, always prioritizing safety, privacy, and well-being.

At My Spanish Camps, we believe in creating a natural, inclusive environment where children can learn and socialize while also ensuring proper boundaries when it comes to rest and personal care.

Activities: Learning and Living Together

All daytime activities at camp are carried out in mixed groups of boys and girls. From sports and multi-adventure activities to workshops, trips, and free time, campers interact in a natural and respectful way, just as they would at school or in everyday life.

When campers arrive, they are assigned to a reference group based on age. Each group usually includes 10–12 campers and is supported by two dedicated counselors who support them throughout the program. These reference groups are mixed and become a key source of belonging, friendship, and emotional support during the camp.

Rest: Separate Spaces for Boys and Girls

When it’s time to rest, we take privacy very seriously. Sleeping accommodations are separated by sex. Boys and girls sleep in different rooms, and these spaces are carefully supervised.

Importantly, there is always a counselor responsible for sleeping in each shared room, ensuring safety and guaranteeing guidance if needed during the night. While sleeping, women counselors look after girls, and men counselors look after boys. This ensures comfort, trust, and a safe environment for everyone.

Hygiene: Privacy and Respect at All Times

Hygiene routines, including showers and bathroom use, are also separated by sex. As with sleeping areas, supervision is handled exclusively by same-sex counselors.

Our team is trained to guide these moments with discretion, respect, and sensitivity, helping campers develop independence while always feeling protected and supported.

A Balanced and Safe Environment

In short, My Spanish Camps offers a balanced approach:

  • Mixed groups for activities, learning, and social development
  • Separated spaces for sleeping and hygiene to guarantee privacy and safety.

This structure allows children to enjoy a rich social experience while giving parents the peace of mind they need.
